AltaView™ Tone Mapping

LUCID's AltaView™ technology is an integrated tone mapping engine that works in conjunction with the sensor and ISP to efficiently convert 24-bit RAW image streams into 8-bit RGB images. Unlike other technologies that perform tone mapping externally, AltaView optimally utilizes the high dynamic range (HDR) of specialized HDR sensors like the Sony IMX490. Through adaptive tone mapping directly in the camera, it produces low-latency 8-bit images with exceptional detail fidelity, eliminating the need for a separate algorithm to be developed.

A key advantage is the maintenance of a fixed exposure setting while the internal algorithm analyzes the RAW data. This results in high-quality images that are rich in color and detail, making them ideal for applications such as neural networks, AI training, automotive applications, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
