COM Express

COM Express™ is a PICMG standard that defines a "Computer On Module" (also known as COM) as a "component".

New interfaces

The COM Express™ standard defines 440 pins between the COM Express™ module and the carrier board. The COM Express™ interfaces allow for a smooth transition from old, parallel interfaces to fast, serial interfaces. These include SDVO, PCI Express and Serial ATA. COM Express™ defines five different pin assignments, thereby guaranteeing sufficient scalability for future applications. Legacy buses such as PCI, parallel ATA and LPC are also supported, as well as the new serial high-speed interfaces PCI Express, Serial ATA and Gigabit Ethernet.

conga BM57 combines maximum processing performance with an integrated high speed graphic controller. conga BM57 is a COM Express Type 2 module with a 32nm processor up to Intel Core i7.

Extreme performance
conga BM57 supports several different types of processors up to Intel Core i7-620 at a speed of 2.53 GHZ, 4 MB L2 cache and 1066 MHz FSB.

Efficient Graphics and Gigabit Ethernet

The on-chip graphics controller supports the Intel® FDI (Intel ® Flexible Display Interface). This Mobile Intel® 5 series graphics chipset supports the latest 3D, 2D and video streaming capabilities. It supports Dynamic Video Memory Technology (DVMT 5.0), accelerated hardware HDTV video streaming and DirectX 10. In addition, the conga BM57 supports automatic display recognition. Both independent graphic pipelines can use either 2x24 bit LVDS, SDVO TV-Out, analogue VGA or new interfaces such as DisplayPort and HDMI. conga BM57 is equipped with the high-performance Intel® Hansville-M 82577 Gigabit Ethernet controller.

When Intel Turbo Boost technology is used, a maximum frequency of 3.33 GHz is supported. The conga BM57 uses the high-performance Mobile Intel QM57/HM55 Platform Controller Hub (PCH).

The Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD (Intel® GMA 4500MHD) is already integrated into the high-performance Mobile Intel® GM45 Express chipset. The module can be fitted with a maximum 8GB fast DDR3 dual channel memory. Compared to DDR2 memory, the power consumption of DDR3 RAM is approximately 20% lower.

The integrated "Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD" graphics controller (Intel® GMA 4500MHD) features the latest 2D, 3D and streaming video features.

The conga BM45 supports dynamic video memory technology (DVMT 5.0), hardware accelerated HDTV video streaming and DirectX 10. With EPI and DisplayID (VESA standard), the conga BM45 can automatically recognise flat-screen displays.In order to reduce power consumption, the clock speed and power supply in the graphics controller are dynamically adapted to the power requirements of the software application.
